"Risky" because every time we search for something, we take risks. Think of The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Harry Potter and his pals, the three siblings in Lemony Snicket's "Series of Unfortunate Events." Think of Odysseus and Huck Finn, of Antigone and Beauty in "Beauty and the Beast." If we didn't take risks, we wouldn't learn anything, nor would we move anywhere on our own. Think about it: what a big chance an infant takes when it begins to learn to walk!

"Gleeful" because A Red Nose Alternative is fun. The exercises we engage participants in are creative, silly, challenging, doable and non-competitive. They engage participants in the process of learning by doing, the process of creating, the process of offering a result to others in the group and listening to feedback. The challenge of performing a solution to a problem is fun and sometimes a little scary. "What if they don't like it?"  Ah, A Red Nose Alternative is not to ask: Do you like it? Instead, we ask questions like: What did you see?  What works?  What is confusing? Then we say: Work on it some more and see what you come up with.

"A search for your path" because each person's path is different. Some take the road not taken, some take one that is well worn, but each person walks in his and her own shoes. Better to discover that and know you're searching then to stand there waiting for an answer someone is supposed to give you. A Red Nose Alternative is to seek the answers and have fun doing the search.
